I’m Sweetwater—hiker, writer, wanderer in recovery.
My soul has always craved the open road—finding unique corners of the world, chasing flight, roaming the earth without a destination.
I’ve spent much of my life with a pack on my back—overseas or deep in the wilderness—letting wild places shape me. My backpack has become a kind of home, always with me, always ready. Not only does it carry the essentials, but it also carries the stories of a life lived fully, intentionally, and wildly.
This space, Earth to Sweetwater, is where it all weaves together: part travel and trail journal, part recovery record, and part love letter to life.
I started this blog to trace the wanderings of a lifetime of roaming that has etched my soul.
I was born to roam—but I’ve learned that roaming isn’t about escape. It’s about returning: to the body, to the breath, to the moment, to the earth.
Sobriety gave me my senses back. Nature keeps me honest. Writing helps me remember.
Whether you’re here for the adventure, the recipes, the recovery reflections, or the realness—welcome to Earth to Sweetwater.
I’m glad you found your way here.
